Black Salt

Black Salt is a PG-13 martial arts feature
film franchise.
This international film is an epic story about an ancient and powerful style of
martial arts that has been practiced in the Shaolin Temple for hundreds of
years. When this ancient art is misused to steal a deadly virus that can
threaten the world and change the balance of power, Samuel Tharpe steps in to
stop the threat. With the murder of his son by the perpetrator of this
evil scheme, Samuel Tharpe has to walk through a forbidden door to save his
surviving children and perhaps the world. Samuel's suspenseful and inspirational
journey will take him through a small mountainous Chinese province, then back
half way across the world to America. This action packed film has a strong
universal message, A man should be judged in life by the pureness of his heart
and his deeds and not by his origin or what Klan he was born into. Black Salt
is a cross between Crouching Tiger; Hidden Dragon meets Blade.
Ratti Entertainment, Inc. has been working on
this exciting intellectual property for the past 5 years and is now in the last phase of
development. The franchise includes an Apparel line, Comic book, Trading cards,
Toy, Animated series, Video game and film trilogy.
While the film is in the last phase of
development the marketing strategy is to first concentrate on building up the
apparel line which would generate more cash flow. Sales would be fueled by the
anticipated demand for the film and video game and secondly, getting the
consumer involved in the movie making process. The apparel line has
already generated some sales and consists of a baseball cap, beanie, logo
t-shirt, character t-shirt and an workout trainer. As the
apparel line grows, it will cross
promote the Black Salt brand and the other product lines which will
attract sponsors, investors, actors, and distributors for the film.
The second part of the marketing strategy is
the grass roots promotional campaign which has already been implemented. |

The first vehicle set up in the
campaign was a website to provide intensive internet marketing. This
website has been used for two important factors, first to build a consumer
database through search engines, portal pages, links, banner ads, blogs, emails
and/or targeting keywords pertaining to the film (Action Films, Shaolin, Martial
Arts, Kung Fu, Karate, Boxing etc.). Second, we have optimized the website
to receive top placement on all the search engines. (Google, Yahoo, MSN
etc.). The company has also produced a 30 second
animated commercial to go on TV, internet sites and ring tones to
advertise the website which in turn will cross promote the entire film
franchise.
Secondly, a series of contests has been set up to get the consumer involved in
the movie making process. First contest is by filling out the sweepstakes
entry form, a person will automatically be registered to win a part in the film
or sit on the set. The second
contest will give a person a chance to pick the action stars that they would
like to see in the film and be eligible to win official Black Salt action wear.
The last program is an Open Casting Call to search around the world for some of
the next fighting stars for the film project.
Next the Company has been
traveling around the country promoting the Black Salt apparel line at these
related Conventions (martial arts, comic book, video game, toy, movie etc.).
We have also been heavily promoting the U.K. circuit with our beautiful spokes
model Zara Phythian a 12 time World Martial Arts champion and actress who will
also be in the film.
The company has vigorously and strategically been searching for the right
product placement and advertising partners to be a part of this potentially
profitable international project.

Finally, there has been a concentrated effort to get the martial arts community from all
over the world involved in the film, by word of mouth, pushing the apparel line
and participating in our open casting call via internet to search for some of
the next fighting stars for the project. Equally important this
concentrated effort and promotions could help bring higher student enrollment in dojos and benefit the entire martial arts industry.
In closing, action films are at the top of the box office charts once
again and will likely stay there for some years to come. The reason for
this important resurgence is that the world is becoming a fearful and
uncertain place. People are now desperately looking for heroes that fight for
right or justice and give us the confidence that everything will be safe
and secure. These heroes also give us hope and courage in an uncertain future.
We continue to rush to the movie theater to get 2 hours of euphoria from
films like "Spiderman", "Batman Begins", "X-Men" and "Superman Returns"!

ORIGIN OF BLACK SALT
Samuel was about 18 years old and one
day after an intensive training session, Master Yu sat Samuel down and
told him a story. He explained when he was 10 years old as a young monk
at the temple, he and his master were in the village picking up some
herbs. Master Chan was telling young Yu that it was forbidden and he
should never teach his Shaolin training to anyone outside the Chinese
Klan. As Master Chan continued to explain why, to the left of them, they
saw a couple of merchants packing fresh fish in a lot of salt. Curiously,
young Yu asked his master, “Why are the men packing the fish in all that
salt?” Master Chan told young Yu that salt is a very powerful mineral
from the ground and is used to preserve goods and cleanse/cure terrible
wounds. But the strongest salt is found in the burned ashes of rare herbs.
Samuel now that I am an old man with
great wisdom and have walked many journeys through life, I now disagree
with my Master Chan, about the curse of Shaolin. A man should be judged
in life by the pureness of his heart and his deeds and not by his origin
or what Klan he was born into. Samuel you have trained very hard and have
been an honorable man in my eyes, you are my cure and maybe these Shaolin
teachings can be a start in changing man’s ignorance. Young Samuel as of
today you will be known as “Black Salt”
